A bit of sun and sky

I got a bit excited yesterday evening. Maybe a little bit too excited but you see, there was sky peeking through and a sunset trying it's best. The dreary clouds of the last week or so were changing colour, the sun spreading a bit of colour at the end of the day.

After a very mild start winter has arrived in many areas around Australia, Cairns included. Our daytime temp has dropped to the low twenties but the night time temp is still hanging around 19. I don't think they took wind factor into that equation. The thought of jumpers and long pants became very tempting and an almost reality. Today, however, has dawned a little warmer and is trying to be sunny.

A problem I often find with taking photos in the city are the power lines and light posts. They just won't move out of the way of a good shot. They are sometimes the highlight of it though, or at least good perches for the subject anyway.

The cockatoos are still hanging around the area, making noise both morning and night. When visiting the family farm they were a sound I didn't hear, instead replaced with galahs, crows and wrens. Oh I have missed the sound of galahs.

I hope this is a sign of weather to come. I am dying to see and record some sunrises and sunsets as well as have a yard that isn't soggy.

I hope the weather is treating you well.

  1. Great shots. I can appreciate the power lines and poles spoiling shots. (I take them out with photoscape when I can!) The cockatoos are gorgeous.

    1. Thanks. I don't do too much editing and don't have the software but sometimes editing out would be handy. Thanks for coming by.

  2. Gorgeous shots of the sky and the clouds. Now that you mention about power lines and poles, I remember seeing those everywhere when I was living in the Philippines, but I don't think I've ever seen one here in Hong Kong (!). I think the wires and cables are all underground.
