Back in my Garden

This weekend I checked out my garden and here is what I found ...

A pumpkin flower and tomato flower in matching clothes.

I found something red in the garden, something ripe and ready to eat. 

My first tomato of the year!

I found flowers and fruit on my passion fruit vine.

I found flowers on my strawberry plants. 

I found rosella fruit on my rosella bushes, still.

I found chillies, CHILLIES??? I planted capsicums.

I found pretty purple flowers on my basil.

I found plenty of stars.

Oh, and I found a visitor, spotted from afar ... can you see it?

In my garden

With the cooler weather recently, sunshine after rain and good doses of fertilizer my garden is happily chugging along. We have gotten two ripe passion fruit with many more to come, our first strawberry, a variety of herbs which do fairly well here, rosellas galore and now we have lots of little tomatoes coming on. Yay! I'm loving seeing it come to life and growing strong.

Vege Time

Today I finally did what I have wanted to for a while. I headed to Rusty's Markets to buy our veges.
I bought from one stall, a Mareeba farmer, selling fresh off the farm produce.
 

I got us two zucchinis ..

Three cucumbers ...
 

A golden nugget pumpkin which I've only ever seen from the family farm, never in a shop ...
 

Four squash ...
 

and three capsicums.
 

It cost a grand total of $11.80 and will feed us for a while.
 

As an added extra I found us a couple of mangoes from Darwin which weren't so cheap but hopefully taste good. I can't wait for mango season to start here.

What's happing in my garden ...

On Sunday, super exciting news alert, I picked 5 tomatoes from OUR GARDEN.

Okay so I know they are looking a little green, especially the one right at the back but if I don't pick them early they end up like the one below. I wonder what eats them.

I have picked tomatoes from our garden before but not so many at one time.



And there are more on their way.



We also have another capsicum that has started to form. This one will make 4.

I finally managed to get some snow peas or sugar snaps to grow. Not sure what I put in the pot really.

And we have successfully grown 3 chillies so far off what were supposed to be capsicum plants ... hmmm.

We have a little lettuce growing, mind you it doesn't go very far.

 

We have had a small but steady stream of strawberries, a couple every few days.

And my parsley and basil are doing well in the various locations it is planted ... in pots and in the garden.
