Busy, busy and a kind of Vlog post

I am pretty busy this week with work, work, oh and stocktake, so am taking the easy road and going for a video. Not quite the same but I'll be back with more photos soon. Actually, one day I might have time to take more, but not really today. Maybe I should get my butt moving in the morning for a sunrise, but then maybe that won't happen either.
Ah well, enjoy checking out more machinery because remember, I think tractors are just a bit spunky. But if tractors aren't your thing, go back and look at my last relaxing, waterfall post.

Vlog from the Beach

I must confess I had no idea what a vlog was until another blogger that I follow shared a delish one showing us the merits of chocolate. Basically it is a video blog.

I have posted a couple of videos of here before so after finding out what this fancy smancy 'vlog' name means I can almost say I've done it before (without the talking) when I posted this one.

Anyway, so here goes my first real vlog with talking and all. It is just me being me and rambling, just a bit.

Have you ever noticed that your recorded voice sounds nothing like what you think your voice sounds like?

I Must Confess

Tap Dancing Seagulls

Tap dancing seagulls, 'what?!' you say.
Well this morning, while I was down on the Esplanade, that is what I saw.

Okay so maybe I added a little imagination but there they were, tapping their feet up and down in the shallow water. It even sounded like tap dancing ... tap, tap, tap, taptaptaptap, tappity, tap, tap ... tap.

What are you looking at?

While tapping they also looked like they were very vain dancers, watching their reflection, checking how they looked.

What they were really doing is watching for that tasty morsel of whatever it was they were eating to come into view as they disturbed it from the mud.

Well I have to say I am looking good today!

Still tap dancing I say.
Here is their preformance in all its glory for you to see.
Please excuse my crappy video quality.

Tap, tap, tap, taptaptaptap, tappity, tap.
What do you think?

I'd never seen them do this before, but well, now I have.

Yummy ... thing

I hope you have a tappy, dancey, smiley kind of day. Let your imagination free.

Drafting Video

Drafting a video by The Govie on Flickr.

Drafting cattle means that they are splitting them into groups. Usually here these groups are calves (babies), weaners (teenagers), heifers (young female who hasn't had he first calf), steers (castrated male), breeders (the breeding cows), spay cows (cows that have been spayed, are barren or are going to be spayed) and bulls.
If you notice in the video Boss R is very patient with the cattle and does things nice and quiet and slow. He is letting them decide to go for the most part rather than forcing them too much so the cattle don't get too worked up. All he has with him is a normal old stick which he mostly just uses to give them a guiding poke in the right direction.

Also you will note that we are behind the cattle so that they want to go forward and don't get spooked. In the background you may see Boss Lady R and Boss Lady H manning the gates for the weaners and calves to go through as well as Boss H up on the crows nest opening the gates. The Boss Ladies are there so the cattle don't try to come back through the gate as well as to help when the gates get stuck.
