Wren Timing Counts

Yep, I know, you are thinking 'spelling, check your spelling'. Well it is on purpose I assure you.
While visiting family at the family farm on the Darling Downs I had some fun stalking those hoppy, wriggly, never still birds known as wrens ... blue wrens (superb fairy-wren) in fact. They were easy to hear but not to easy to capture. They have certainly been into the red cordial or something, busy all the time. The best time was in the evening or early in the morning when they were out and about or hanging out in the grape vines. But really they were out and about pretty much all day. I think I managed to get a few different members of the family, and family they definitely are. They certainly act like one; arguing, sharing, hanging out together, ignoring each other, grooming together, certain members in control ... see family.

  2. They are lovely little birds....do you think they are all wrens? So different in coloration aren't they ? One little guy looks a bit like our chickadees....with the white on him....

    1. Yes all seems, all superb fairy-wrens. The females and young are brown the males have the black and blue on them. I think I got some young males changing colours. Interesting that they are similar to another bird.

  7. I totally agree - wrens are very difficult to photograph. And yes, they are like they have had way too much red cordial. Love that!! Awesome photos BTW!!.
