A Wispy Sunrise

I haven't been particularly enthused about posting on this here blog over the last few days, but here goes.

Today so far, I've managed to make a mess that is spread from the spare bedroom, to our bedroom, to downstairs. I really should it clean up, okay, I will clean up. I did manage to get some parcels ready to post that should have been done months ago though. Talk about procrastination. I also managed to get my washing on early this morning, so it had plenty of time to dry, and then to completely forget about the hanging it out part until after lunch time. Good thing there is a bit of a wind. So that is pretty much how my day is going. How about yours?

Now my lack of blogging motivation is probably going hand in hand with the fact that I actually haven't been anywhere or seen anything much through my camera lens for about a week. That and tiredness, but what is new with that. I could probably hole up at home for months or years and still have enough blogging material in the way of photos. These ones, however, are from last Tuesday morning. This is when I feel was about the last time I actually turned my camera on. Shock. Horror.

It was one of those mornings where the low band of clouds meant I made it there for sunrise, just.

I did however miss capturing the wispy clouds turned pink. Oh boy, were they pretty.

I do love watching the clouds. especially when they are as soft and pretty as the ones that morning.

It is hard to believe that behind me, up on the footpath, so many are doing their morning exercise. It makes it seem like I am alone on this northern part of the Esplanade when really I am far from it.

I got lucky that morning too with a kingfisher stopping by. I am still amazed by these birds, by getting to see them.

This morning, the sunrise was hidden behind clouds and rain but today the clouds have been tussling in the sky with a fair bit of sun.

By the way, I should complain about lack of work more often on here. After that, I got a few more daycare days in my new job. It also seems to be the 'law of me' that after two or so nights with not enough sleep and more of them to come that I will get the morning phone call, asking me to come in during the day. But the work is good, and so is hanging with the kids.
Right now I'm heading for my fifth nightfill night (well technically one of them wasn't night, it was a morning right after a night, and one of them was an eight hour shift instead of four) out of six nights in a row. That will be followed by two full days at daycare with the cherry on top of a night shift at the end of the last, what will be, never ending day. It is good to be busy. Who needs sleep anyway?

Well, I better go post those parcels near the door, so they don't end up sitting around for another couple of months. Then maybe I should think about dinner and I better clean up that mess of crafty bits and laminating scraps. This house is too small to leave that hanging around everywhere.

Looking a little like Autumn

We've had some Autumn like looking days here this week, the fog has arrived. Monday morning the fog was thick enough to ask the sunrise but by the time I made up my mind to go and take some photos, most of it had cleared south of the city.

Walsh's Pyramid

Can you spot the chimney from the sugar mill?

After having fun with dew drops and fog I headed into Gordonvale, to get a photo or two of the mill before they start work. Well they were working, working getting the mill ready for the beginning of the sugar cane harvest. Once the cane starts to flower, things will be full steam ahead.

Mulgrave Sugar Mill operating since 1896, services around 300 farms.

When I arrived there were passengers waiting to catch a train off the single platform at the station, next to the mill. The Spirit of Queensland was due in at any time, on its way south.

The train was way too long for the platform so they stopped to let the guard off and then moved forward to let the passengers on.

Once the train was gone the station went back to being quiet and deserted, well except for me. We don't have many trains through in the Far North, just this one and ones with all our food and other goods, that I know of.

I then headed to find some pretty flowers which I used for a belated Mother's Day.

What has it been like where you are?
