So I am doing a little bit of blog overloading or catching up, which ever you choose.
My visit down south was short and sweet but just too short. Even so I packed in a lot of family time which is just the way I love it. I got to visit my sister and her family's new place which is bigger and nicer than the last. This meant I also got to hang out not just with her but with my niece Miss E ( the only one I have). She is now a bit over 16 months and into everything. She knows what she likes and what she doesn't. She stares seriously into your eyes and giggles from that deep well of happiness.
I wish I got to spend more time with her being a doting Aunt but am so glad for the time I do get and that my child magnetism (or so I have been told) means she warms to me fairly well despite me being a near stranger. She really is a bit of a social butterfly.
My sister, sis C, decided it was time to experiment with one of those highly popular rainbow cakes and made us one for morning tea. It looked pretty good, all those rainbow sprinkles.
The inside, it turns out, looked even better.
All that coloured brightness, I couldn't wait. I do love cake, and chocolate and pastry and ... whoops sorry, off track.
It turns out she took the experiment further and each layer was flavoured. The red/pink (top) was strawberry, yellow was lemon, blue was vanilla, green was mint, purple was coconut and orange (bottom) was orange. Between each layer was coconut flavoured icing and it was iced with cream cheese icing.
Miss E couldn't wait to dig in and have some of that bright cake she had been trying to steal before it was put together.
We enjoyed it too, so yummy and very filling.
It was nice to spend most of the day with them and just relax, catch up and just enjoy our mostly girls time (my younger brother was there too but he is used to hanging out with the girls).
Look at that gorgeous red hair. Not to mention the cake! Blog-world has a lot to answer for, I'd never have even heard of rainbow cakes if it wasn't for blogging!
ReplyDeleteYes her hair is beautiful, just like her mummy. Blue eyes to match and she has a combination that is becoming a rarity. Blog world does have a lot to answer for. I'll have to make one now.
