Raining frogs

On Sunday we woke to rain; real, wet, refreshing rain. I say real because part of being in the tropics is that often your rain comes in small showers or drizzle or annoying spitting, not so often in a proper downpour. I take it from looking at the BOM that it started around 4 or 5 am.

I love rain, always have. I recall running in it, playing in it and showering under the tank overflow as a kid. Come to think of it I was still doing that a couple of years ago on The Station. Would here too if there was an overflow and somewhere to run with abandon other than through the streets.

Backyard pool?

Rain means puddles. Who doesn't love puddles. Did I mention I love the sound of it on the roof. Our tile rood just doesn't cut it here. I also love the smell. Maybe it is my favourite smell, that one of rain on hot earth.

It rained and rained and then it slowed but kept drizzling until well into the afternoon. When it had pretty much stopped I had to go hunting with my camera.

Amazing how fast these come up

Monday wasn't so much rainy as drizzly, that annoying tropical weather. In among the rotating bouts of drizzle, sun and humidity I went hunting in our dripping garden again.

Summer here means nothing much happening plant wise. An odd flower here, leaves, burnt greenery but non plant wise we certainly have our little frogs.

Ummm, passionfruit in flower, again

Ready, set, go

Frogs are another love of mine. I love hearing them and watching them oh and I can't forget, playing with them.

On the tip

You can't see me

As long as your hands are soap free, clean(ish) and chemical free you and frogs will get along fine.

Run, hide ...

Sunrise or sunset?

Staring competition

As evening came on Monday, the skies started to clear, a bit.
Today though is more of the same, overcast but with some showers this afternoon that have had the most beautiful breeze come with them.

  1. I love the smell of rain on hot ashpalt. It reminds me of primary school. Don't see many frogs out and about like you though. They're very cute :) I don't mind the rain either :)

  2. Someone told me earlier this week that green frogs in your yard means good luck. I must be the luckiest person in the world apart from you of course.

    1. Oh I'd love to see your frogs. I've heard frogs mean a healthy environment but I'll go with the luck thing.
