Feb 14th

Valentine's Day ... This was our third one living together and we can safely add it to our current track record of flops. The first year I made a nice dinner, set the table, candles, did my hair that kind of thing. Mr Sparky came home with a huge headache so off to bed he was sent. Year two saw a repeat of preparations, I even wore a dress. Mr Spark worked late. This year we managed to be in two different locations. See we are really good at this.

I do see and hear about others flowers and chocolates and sometimes wish (who doesn't) but really Valentine's has never been a big thing in my family so I don't see it as all that important. Mr Sparky, despite what some of you might assume, is in no way the king of romance and hey I love him like that, most of the time. I'd just like to actually make it to having a nice meal together, home cooked or not. Just spending the time in each others company, chatting and relaxed. Maybe after we have headed out for a walk somewhere or exploring some new or old place together during the day. One year I am sure.

I spent mine enjoying some self love, some me time and gave the house some love by catching up on some house work. Exciting. I headed out with my camera and showed it some love too. It was a great way to spend an afternoon.

I headed to another new place, Stoney Creek. Mr Sparky made comments about the stoney part but I'll let you make them up. It is very quiet and pretty. I am sure even prettier on a sunny day although maybe not so quiet especially on the weekend.

Love, like a river, will cut a new path
whenever it meets an obstacle. - Crystal Middlemas

“May what I do flow from me like a river, no forcing and no holding back, the way it is with children.” - Rainer Maria Rilke

Life is like a waterfall, it is always moving and there is always an uneven flow to it.

Many a calm river begins as a turbulent waterfall, yet none hurtles and foams all the way to the sea.
- Mikhail Lermontov

“Love is like a tree: it grows by itself, roots itself deeply in our being and continues to flourish over a heart in ruin.”
― Victor Hugo

“Life is like the river, sometimes it sweeps you gently along and sometimes the rapids come out of nowhere.”
― Emma Smith

Strength: A river cuts through a rock not because of its power, but its persistence. - unknown

Love is like a river, never ending as it flows, but gets greater with time. - unknown

"Don't love me like a flower because it dies every season; love me like a river because it flows forever." - unknown

Are you over water and waterfalls yet?
Sorry, but I'm not. I am loving it
This time I found a nice rock jutting out into the water and just sat and watched, not another soul in sight.

I've decided I'll have to give some of the walking tracks here a go but maybe with some better footwear. Me and my thongs are so stable on uneven ground. Actually scrap that the thongs are innocent, it is just me who isn't so stable on uneven ground. Think over zealous balancing moves and tongue out in concentration while staring at my feet kind of walking.

When I got home, nearing on 6pm, blue sky had appeared. So nice to see after days of grey. It didn't last long though and I enjoyed listening to more rain as relaxed for the evening.

How did you spend your Valentine's Day?
Are you super into it or do you just give it a miss?

  1. I do hope that one day you will experience Valentines day the way your heart wants it to be as when it all falls into place it can be a magical thing and yes not everyone is into it but in fact it is always with us some people find it hard to express what they are feeling but others it just pours out of them, the main thing is that you can except each other for who you both are with out trying to change each other as this wont help love comes in many forms and it isn't always the traditional way as everyone isn't the same, so all I can say is love and enjoy each other and enjoy your time together this is the most important thing in any relationship

  2. So may good quotes and pictures...waterfalls are mesmerizing. My husband and I have been married for 34 years...we are about 50/50 on Valentines Day celebrations. We had a nice dinner with friends, perhaps one of my favorite ways to spend the night.
